Book-a-Ganza
Saturday, April 17 • 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
This event brings together Shenandoah Valley book lovers to celebrate book culture. The day includes the 10:30 a.m. panel discussion, “Book Collecting 101,” where you will learn about the vocabulary, practicalities, and theory of collection books. Panelist include include Pat Saine, owner of Winchester’s Blue Plate Books; Lorne Bair, owner of Lorne Bair Rare Books; and David Gray, director of learning resources of Lord Fairfax Community College Library Information and Services. Registrants may bring one book to be appraised at an appraisal session that will begin at 11:30 a.m. At the 1 p.m. panel session, “The Care of Books,” with Jill Deiss, owner of Cat Tail Run Hand Bookbinding; Trish Ridgeway, director of the Handley Regional Library; and Byron Smith, director & curator of the Newtown History Center, you will receive practical advice on keeping your book collection in the best possible condition and learn how to store and repair your books.
